Architectural work needs room, but a website also has to explain whose work it is and what kind of practice sits behind it. A fullscreen photograph can make a strong impression. It can also leave a prospective client with very little context.

Utica is our first choice for an architecture practice with projects, people, and studio information to present. Radian makes a more concentrated visual introduction. Bergen gives the practice's point of view more prominence, while a paid one-page option suits a smaller portfolio.

1. Utica — A fuller architecture-practice website

Utica opens with a plain statement identifying the architecture firm and its location, followed by a large project photograph. Work, about, team, press, and contact are visible in the header. The visitor can see both the work and the shape of the practice quickly.

We'd choose it for a firm with enough content to justify those separate areas. The simple white setting gives different projects a consistent frame without making them look identical. Compared with Radian, Utica is more explicit about the organization behind the buildings.

2. Radian — One strong project as the introduction

Radian gives a large architectural photograph most of the opening screen, with a short statement following underneath. The header is spare and the typography is direct. The effect is confident: a project is allowed to make the first impression.

We'd choose it for a small practice with excellent photography and a tightly edited portfolio. It is less useful when the firm needs a visitor to understand several services before exploring the projects. Our Radian review looks more closely at that image-first approach.

3. Bergen — A practice with a point of view about spaces

Bergen — official demo, captured October 18, 2026.

Bergen leads with a centered statement about the spaces the studio creates before introducing large interior photographs. Its navigation makes work, about, services, and process easy to identify.

That can suit residential architects or a practice working closely with interiors. The opening gives the design philosophy more weight than Radian does. We'd choose Bergen when the way you think about a space is part of the reason someone hires you. Utica feels more like a firm overview; Bergen feels more like a considered introduction to the studio's approach.

4. Cami — A compact independent practice

Cami — official demo, captured October 18, 2026.

Cami is a design portfolio rather than an architecture demo, but its opening introduction and large project images can work for an independent architect. It gives the person behind the work a clear voice.

We'd consider it for a smaller practice whose website needs a few excellent projects and a concise introduction. Utica is more naturally equipped to present a larger organization. Cami is the more personal option, particularly when a conventional firm website would make the business feel unnecessarily distant.

5. Handshake — A paid one-page architecture option

Handshake by Studio Mesa is an architecture-oriented one-page design. We'd compare it for a small studio that wants a compact, editorial introduction rather than a large project archive. Its size is part of the attraction: enough room to introduce the practice without requiring a substantial website to feel complete.

Choose for your actual portfolio

We'd open Utica first for an established firm, Radian for an image-led small practice, and Bergen for a studio with a strong residential or interior focus. Handshake is worth comparing when one carefully composed page is enough.

The deciding material is often your photography. A portfolio full of finished interior shots behaves differently from one dominated by plans, renderings, and process. Our interior-design template guide and portfolio template guide offer other useful comparisons. You can find more independent options in the template directory.
