You used to try. You'd name the real issue on the call. Push back on a scope that didn't make sense. Try to have the conversation about what was actually going on before jumping into the build.

And you got a blank stare. Or a polite redirect. Or the project just moved forward like you hadn't said anything.

That teaches you something fast. The role — as most clients define it — doesn't have room for what you actually see. They're hiring a designer. They want a design.

So you stopped bringing it up. Not because you stopped seeing it. You never stopped seeing it. You just stopped saying it out loud.

And over time, you stopped trusting that what you saw was worth saying out loud.

The container you're working inside only has room for one part of what you bring.
